WHY FIGHT AN UPHILL BATTLE TO BECOME PUBLISHED? • LEARN HOW TO GET ON THE DOWNHILL SIDE

YOU NEED TO KNOW: No matter how good your story line or plot are, or how interesting and fast-paced your story is, your writing has to be good. No matter how good your writing is, it has to be accurate. And no matter how accurate your writing is, it has to be authentic. Names need to match locals. Equipment, weapons, places have to be precise. Relationships have to merge and remain consistent.

BE AWARE:
Publishers and editors approach a new story submission with a negative attitude and look for reasons to decline the story. They often reject new material on the flimsiest of issues because they have hundreds of works from which to choose.

READERS: Many publishers and editors turn over new submissions to readers. Readers are typically frustrated writers who have not had their work published and been turned down many times. They often read a submitted work with the intent of turning it down.

REJECTIONS: Almost all writers have been rejected, most several times. Writing, for the most part, requires a thick skin. If you react poorly to rejection, writing may not be your forte. But if you can handle rejection, writing is a fun, exciting, and sometimes very rewarding business. The key is to make your writing as perfect as possible.

PERFECTION: No writer is perfect, or writes perfectly. However, good writers, published writers, have found a way to perfect their ability, style, and content to a high degree. They have learned how to make their writing accurate, believable, and authentic. They research their work to a high degree--many multi-published authors hire assistants to do their research for them.

RESEARCH: No matter how smart, knowledgeable, or experienced a person is, they do not know everything about any subject matter they may choose to write. It is absolutely necessary to research material, characterization, behavior, plot, equipment, locatons, names, etc., for if you do not, be assured that you will write something of which someone knows more than you--and that someone may well be the publisher, editor or reader who has to approve your submission in order for you to get published.

REMEMBER: Contrary to the old saw, you can build a better mousetrap, but the world will not beat a path to your door. You must convince them to want to obtain what you have written--and the first person is the one who reads your story and passes judgement on it. No matter how many friends and relatives may enjoy your writing and rave about it, the publisher, editor or reader who looks at it is not interested in being entertained--they truly are looking for reasons to reject it.

WHAT WE OFFER: The helps on the CDs we offer will assist any writer, whether new or experienced, to see how to add finishing touches to conversation, characterization, consistency, and authenticity that will polish the writing skills and enhance expanded thinking and understanding as to what makes writing effective. While the CDs are not a tutorial, they do provide scores of exact examples that are suitable for insertion, expansion, or understanding by the writer.

WHO COMPILED THIS MATERIAL: The individuals who have compiled this material have all been published many times. They have had their share of rejections, their share of failures, and their frustrations--which led them to learn the secrets of good writing. Now they have compiled those examples of what good writing needs to include in order to be published. They have not given tips on how to write well--they have shown in example after example with insertable dialogue, action, description, chracterization, and examples that you can use to improve your writing--even if you only drag and drop the insertions into your writing
